Valentine's Day

Once you're married you are guaranteed to have a Valentine every year. However, I remember Valentine's Day when you are too young to date, but too old to spend the day with your parents. Thirteen. What an awkward age. Every Valentine's Day my dad would hand write a poem for my mom, sister and I expressing his appreciation towards each of us in many different ways.

This is what I vividly remember Valentine's Day being about. I wish I still had those poems not because of the talent, time and productivity that was put into them, but from the love he showed us and still does everyday. I hope Jim can pass this tradition onto our children someday when they are able to comprehend the significance and meaning of what Valentine's Day really is about.
